ANSA 12:12 SEI ESPLOSIONI SCONVOLGONO LONDRA, MORTI E FERITI LONDRA - Ian Blair, il capo della polizia di Londra, ha detto che in tutto le esplosioni che hanno sconvolto la capitale britannica sono state sei. Il funzionario ha aggiunto che vi sono "numerose vittime" e che ancora non sono chiare le dinamiche. Ian Blair si è rivolto per televisione a tutti i cittadini pregandoli di non uscire di casa se non per gravi motivi. "La situazione è ancora molto confusa, questa è una città molto grande e le operazioni di soccorso molto complesse", ha concluso il funzionario. Un numero imprecisato di persone sono morte nell'esplosione dell'autobus saltato in aria a Russel Square. "Ci sono morti e feriti", ha detto un poliziotto che si trova sul luogo, raggiunto telefonicamente dall'agenzia Pa. L'autobus era il numero 59, e il tetto è stato disciolto dall'esplosione. Un secondo autobus è esploso a Woburn Palce ed un terzo a Tavistock Square. Almeno un ordigno esplosivo è stato trovato in una stazione metropolitana. Lo ha riferito, secondo quanto detto da testimoni, un dirigente della rete. Alla stazione di Liverpool si registrano diversi feriti. Lo scoppio è stato poco prima delle nove, ora locale (le 10:00 in Italia). Non è ancora chiara la dinamica dell'incidente. Poco dopo vi è stata un'altra esplosione alla stazione di Edgware Road, nel nord della città. Secondo una studentessa, che si trovava sulla vettura accanto a quella dove è avvenuta l'esplosione sul treno della metropolitana ad Aldgate Station, ci sono dei morti. "Ho visto corpi apparentemente senza vita e la vettura era completamente distrutta", ha riferito Sarah Reid all'agenzia inglese Pa. Anche altri testimoni riferiscono di vittime, ma manca ancora una conferma ufficiale. Altre esplosioni - secondo Scotland Yard - sono avvenute in seguito a Aldgate, King's Cross, Old Street e Russel Square. Tutta la rete appare bloccata. La polizia ferroviaria londinese ha finora parlato di uno sbalzo di energia nel sistema di alimentazione della rete e non di atto terroristico. Le esplosioni nella metropolitana sono avvenute nell'ora di massima congestione. Migliaia di persone sono fuggite dai treni, cercando di recuperare la superficie nel minor tempo possibile. Gente rimasta intrappolata nelle vetture ha rotto i finestrini ed è riuscita così a guadagnare le vie di uscita. Tantissime le persone insanguinate in fuga. Two die in London terror blasts Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after at least seven blasts on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London. UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks. He said it was "particularly barbaric" that it was timed to coincide with the G8 summit. He is returning to London. An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks. London's police chief Sir Ian Blair said there had been "many casualties" but it was too early to put a figure to those killed or injured. More than 100 casualties and one of the dead were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. And St Mary's Hospital said it was dealing with 26 injured people, including four with critical injuries and eight in a serious condition. Sir Ian urged people to stay where they were and not to call emergency services unless it was a life-threatening situation. He reassured the public that an emergency plan was in place and the situation was "steadily coming under control". "I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double-decker bus was in the air," she said. She said the bus was travelling from Euston to Russell Square and had been "packed" with people turned away from Tube stops. "It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the air, I think it was the number 205," she said. "There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been turning people away from the Tube stops." One caller to BBC Five said his friend had seen "the bus ripped open like a can of sardines and bodies everywhere". Loyita Worley, who works for a City law firm, said she was on the underground train when an explosion took place in the next carriage, while it was in a tunnel.
