Is this the car that will see Peugeot roaring to the top of the compact family hatchback sales charts?

In the face of stiff competition from Ford's new Focus, the Vauxhall Astra and VW's Golf, the 307 is struggling to find favour, despite a recent mid-life facelift. When the 308 is introduced in 2007, it will have one major advantage: style.
These exclusive images have been produced using top-secret information from Peugeot's future design files. They reveal how the long front overhang of the 407 has been blended into a stunning three-door body, complete with striking tail-light clusters and a sporty bumper/diffuser at the back. The line of the gaping front grille flows elegantly up the newcomer's bonnet to join the windscreen at the A-pillar.

However, it takes more than just a pretty face to please family car buyers. The 308 will be based  on a new platform designed to offer the ideal balance between refinement and handling.

Engines are expected to be carried over from the 307, but modifications will keep all powerplants up to date. While the existing model has to make do with the Feline-badged 'warm hatch' at the top of its range, a fully fledged 308 GTi looks set to challenge the new breed of 200bhp-plus class leaders. From launch, the new machine will be offered in the three-door guise seen here, as well as five-door, estate and SW bodystyles. A successor to the popular 307 CC folding hard-top is also certain to appear.

With the car still two years away from showrooms, prices and specs have yet to be set - but the new model is unlikely to cost much more than the 307. A concept version of the fresh-faced hatchback will appear at one of 2007's top European motor shows.

Che io sappia, la Ferrari pagò per poter utilizzare le sigle 208 e 308, dal momento che la Peugeot ha registrato tutte le sigle a 3 cifre con lo zero nel mezzo (per quanto riguarda le auto chiaramente).
Non so se abbiano registrato anche qualcosa a 4 cifre, dato che ora c'è la 1007...

Che io sappia, la Ferrari pagò per poter utilizzare le sigle 208 e 308, dal momento che la Peugeot ha registrato tutte le sigle a 3 cifre con lo zero nel mezzo (per quanto riguarda le auto chiaramente).

Azz questa non la sapevo Vabbè... pagato o non pagato... il confrono è impietoso per la Peugeot
